Inspired by Jim’s Etherized on a Table and Joan’s There is Time, I decided to also give Serena’s Picturing Prufrock assignment a whirl.
The symbolism in The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock is so rich. Every line has imagery I’d love to illustrate. I could happily spend days illustrating these stanzas. I chose one of the more boring lines because I wanted to try and draw T.S.Eliot himself thinking about getting old.

I grow old … I grow old…
I shall wear the bottoms of my trousers rolled.

How I did it!
MIXED MEDIA! I used old fashioned water color paper, water color pencils, marker to draw and color. Then I took a pic with my iPhone and uploaded to Flickr!

I love this, the old school art working its way into ds106 would be a very nice development this semester. I was trying to find the perfect image of an old dude with his trousers rolled for this one, to no avail—but then you knock it out of th part as usual.
I had a student in the second semester of ds106 do a series of pencil sketches for her final project, and she recorded herself making them and went on to do about 7 amazing drawings for ds106. I have an archive of all of them, and I think I’d like to highlight them again as i am trying to think what will make sense for an ongoing 6 or 7 week project—not so final, but that is how I have named it. The absis, do whatever you want, but sustain and make it yours.
I would love to see the pencil sketches! In fact, I’d love to see more of the final assignments, full stop. I’ve never actually done a “final” assignment, I guess that might be because I’m #ds106 #4life.
